FREE LEBANON - H. E. GENERAL M. AOUN VISIT TO AUSTRALIA
 Australia Visit

Wednesday June 17, 1998

On Monday 15th June, General Aoun visited Adelaide. At the airport the Lebanese people came to welcome him; among others Joe Karam, Emile Dahdah and George Aoukar. After a stroll in the car through Adelaide, General Aoun attended a banquet in his honor. Was present: Senator Grant Chapman, Alexander Downer (on behalf of the Minister of Foreign affairs), reverend Paul Jaber, reverend Antoine Abou Rjeily and a huge number of lebanese people of different faith.

General Aoun stressed on the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign armies from Lebanon. He pointed out the acceptance of the Israeli's withdrawal and demanded that the others do the same. "...we never asked for the help of anybody to solve our internal problems, and we never asked for the help of anybody against any other Lebanese fellow."

He asked that a committee be created to look through the atrocities that have been inflicted to humanity in general and to the Lebanese people in specific during these past years.

He also stressed on the fact that the war that went on in Lebanon was the war of others on our soil, with the help of Lebanese traitors.

He also pointed out "the Syrian lies that claim to be in Lebanon "in order to protect the Lebanese against Israel. The Syrians never fired once towards Israel; but it was given the permission by Israel to gun down Baabda's palace where was the headquarters of the legitimate government in 1990."

Then General Aoun answered the questions of the people present, where again he stressed on the importance of putting aside all religious and political beliefs and work for all Lebanon.

" Lebanon should be your goal, all of Lebanon. Work for it in order to deserve it..."
