FREE LEBANON - H. E. GENERAL M. AOUN VISIT TO AUSTRALIA

General Aoun's third day in Australia started early, as he visited the official radio station studios. This station presents an Arabic program that is popular among all Arabic-speaking people. During his interview, he answered questions from eager listeners. The questions asked were mainly about the regimes in the region, the peace process and the internal affairs of Lebanon.

Invited by the Lebanese-Australian friendship commission - that gathers 35 federal deputy - and the governmental committee of external affairs and defense and commerce, General Michel Aoun visited the oldest parliament in Australia - namely the New South Wales parliament - where a banquet was organized in his honor. Among the people present were: the president of the Lebanese-Australian friendship committee the federal deputy Ross Cameron, the secretary of the external affairs and defense and commerce parliamentary commission the federal deputy Stephen Match, the parliamentary secretary of the minister of the industrial relations the federal deputy Alan Camden, the federal deputy of North Sydney Jo Hockey, the parliamentary secretary of education and youth the federal deputy Tony Abbott. Also was present the president of the Free National Movement (Aounist Movement) Pierre Raffoul and the editor of the Herald newspaper Sharbel Moussa and Mr. Joseph Aoun.

During lunch, General Aoun explained to the Australian officials the various sides of the present Lebanese crisis, showing them a new strategy that could help end this crisis. This strategy relays mainly on the international decisions and the Human rights laws. He also explained the work of the justice department and the violations done by the Lebanese judicial corps, because of the ruling of the political power that is appointed and not elected. He also explained that there is no separation in the authorities as it is in all the democratic regimes.

To a question to the Australian of Lebanese descendants, he asked them to be Lebanese as one and not parties and sects, and that they should be loyal to their patriotism and not their parties…

In the afternoon, the Al Quods Arabic written newspaper got an interview with General Aoun. And after that General Aoun met with the federal deputy Paul Zamit in the Herald newspaper premises, where he explained to Mr. Zamit the different issues of the Lebanese crisis on the different levels: socio-economical and political.

Also, General Aoun gave an interview to the Lebanese radio station of Canada where he explained the purpose of his visit to Australia and promised the Canadian Lebanese people a visit to Canada.

In the evening the Old Warrior's committee prepared a banquet in the honor of General Michel Aoun. This banquet was attended by the president of the committee Mr. Nasri Deeb and his fellow members, as well as General Aoun and his family, Mr. Pierre Raffoul and members of the Aounist Movement.

The members of the Old warriors committee put themselves under the orders of General Aoun at any time of need. General Aoun thanked them for their gesture and asked them to always fight and work for ALL of Lebanon.
