Friday June 12, 1998 Successfully General Aoun's tour in Australia continues through Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide. General Aoun seemed very happy about his meeting with the Australian officials, looking forward a more effective role for Australia through the Commonwealth and the UN. ![]() European and American diplomatic committees send back home reports of this tour, talking about its success and the response of people to it. They also pointed out the fact that General Aoun stressed that Lebanon's situation should be dealt with separately from the region's, namely the 242 and 338 resolutions. Like linking Lebanon's case to another country's case, or linking the Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon to the Israeli withdrawal from the Golan... These ideas were greatly approved by the Australian officials because they are 100% legitimate and lawful. General Aoun also explained to all that the war in Lebanon was not between the Lebanese, but between others that took the Lebanese as means to fight their wars on our land and blaming the whole destruction on the so-called "civil war" between the Lebanese. The press played a very negative role throughout this war, hiding the real cause of it and falsifying the truth by that. He also pointed out the Syrian unlawful presence in Lebanon by giving different proof of that He also gave a clear picture of how this unlawful presence is manipulating the present government. He asked the officials to review their politics towards Lebanon and to be a helpful hand in mastering the new real Free, Sovereign and Independent Lebanon.
