Written By A Lebanese Freedom Fighter The Syrian-controlled Lebanese press today beat the drums about the so-called upcoming presidential elections. Some are running Internet polls on whether the elections will take place at all. To have a president of the republic one must first have a republic. Lebanon today is not an independent state in any sense of the word. After its full occupation on October 13, 1990, Lebanon has been ruled by Syria through a police state. Syria setup a Troika regime, which signed numerous treaties that surrendered under the gun, the last remnants of Lebanese token sovereignty to the Syrian Dictatorship. All government institutions in Lebanon are nothing but a mask for the Syrian occupation. Hrawi came to power inside the Syrian Intelligence Headquarter in the town of Shtoura. Hariri bought his way riding on a Saudi flying carpet. Berry and Jumblat are warlords in heart and Mafiozos in practice. The 1992 parliamentary elections were boycotted by 87% of the Lebanese. The 1996 elections saw a participation of less than 37% and only after the illegal nationalization of about 200,000 Syrians and others. Simply stated, the current Lebanese government is a local administrative body for the Syrian occupation. The current ruling political class is void of any moral authority or national integrity. The Lebanese people are quite aware of this charade and the Syrian lies do not fool them. To all those western observers and ambassadors puzzled by the lack of enthusiasm from the Lebanese people, we recommend they step away from Hariri's castles and the Troika millionaires' estates. Take a stroll in the streets and speak to ordinary people. Visit their homes, have a private dinner, a frank and un-intimidating conversation. You will then be taking a truthful poll of Lebanese sentiments about the Syrian occupation. The general mood is bitter, angry, and bordering civil disobedience if not outright revolt. Before 1975, the US had lost the Lebanese left. By 1982, it managed to lose the right. After October 13, 1990, it lost all people in Lebanon. The Lebanese are very clear about the role the United States played in dooming their independence, and in subjugating Lebanon to the Syrian dictatorship in exchange of Syrian cooperation in the blockade/war against Iraq. In the mind of the Bush-Baker administration, Kuwaiti Green was more precious than Lebanese Red. The US knows, that we know of their conspiracy with Assad against Lebanon, yet they continue to throw lies and deception in our face. They are trying to fool the world about the so-called Lebanese democracy. They found a few hundred collaborators whom they appointed at the top of the state hierarchy to rule by proxy. They congratulate themselves on the progress since Taef when we all know that they have murdered Lebanon politically, economically, socially, and ecologically. Within the next two months, they will be appointing new collaborators after having consumed the current players. The new regime will continue to act as a thin mask for their occupation. How could there be reform when the Godfathers of this regime are the Syrian dictatorship and the conscienceless West. Do they really believe that by changing the actors people will attend their show? Their game is a bankrupt story. Their castle is built on Sand. Their forts are made of paper. The winds of change are coming soon to Lebanon to eradicate every collaborator, every thief, and every murderer. The Taef regime will collapse the moment the Syrian hegemony is shaken. The Lebanese people are boiling and the explosion is near. It will be sudden and universal. All the powers of the police state will not protect them against the wrath of the people.
