Missing persons group
demands long-awaited report
The Follow-up Committee of Relatives of Missing
Persons reminded the government Monday that it had failed to issue a
promised report on the missing.
The group, which had held a meeting to mark the International Human Rights
Day, said that the report, which was expected in June, had been twice
delayed.
The committee slammed the government for “not taking the trouble of
contacting the group and not issuing a statement six months after it
promised to do so.”
The committee called on the state to “speed up” the report.
The majority of the missing are believed by their relatives to be held in
Syria. But Damascus has always denied their presence on Syrian territory. |
