THE PRICE OF THE PRESIDENCY CHAIR

The following is a statement issued by Brigadier/Minister Issam Abu Jamra, on 30/3/1999, from his office in France. It is a response to an interview conducted with the Lebanese Syrian appointed M.P, Mr. John Obied, by the Jazera Qatari T.V station, and aired via satellite last week.

In the nearest past, General Emile Bustani, Lebanon's Army Commander (1969) presented the Cairo Agreement proposal to late Egyptian president, Jamal Abdel Nasser. When Nasser reviewed the proposal he said to Bustani; " General, you have give more then is required".

Few day ago, Syrian Minister for Defense, Mustafa Tlas visited MP and Minister under the occupation reign, Mr. John Obied, and thanked him warmly for his last treacherous, cheap humiliating appeasement on the Jazira TV Tlas said to Obied: " Congratulations, excellent John, you have said more then you were requested say".

General Emile Bustani, the Crotal hero, and his son in-law, John Obied, MP and Minister under the occupation umbrella, both worked hard in every way possible to sit on Lebanon's presidency chair. How unfortunate is this chair, and cheap it turned to be!

N.B: The Cairo agreement gave illegally the PLO a big region of South Lebanon to be used as a military base. The region was known as "Faith Land". This Cairo agreement was signed on Monday, 3rd

November 1969, in Egypt by Lebanon's Army Commander at the time, General Emile Bustani, and the (PLO) Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman, Mr. Yasir Arafat, in the presence of two Egyptian Ministers, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mahmud Riyad, and Minister for War Affairs, General Muhammad Fawzi. Late president Jamal Abdel Nasser was the Godfather for the agreement that infringed on Lebanon's sovereignty and independence)
