Daily Star Feb. 2, 2000 Letters to the editor I currently live in Detroit and enjoy reading your newspaper on the web every day. In the report on the weather in the Jan. 28 issue, a villager is quoted as saying that Edgar Maalouf used to drop bread from his airplane. The author of the article does not seem to take it seriously and comments by questioning where this brave villager, Edgar Maalouf, came from and how he flew his plane. Edgar Maalouf was a pilot and a high ranking official in the Lebanese Army. He was one of the three ministers in General Aoun’s Cabinet. During the war against the militias, he lost his brother who was also an Air Force pilot. It is sad how brave people can be easily forgotten in our country. Jihad Younes, Detroit |
